A dramatic mint error

Julius Caesar, 49-44 BC. Denarius (Silver, 20 mm, 3.67 g, 10 h), military mint moving with Caesar in Gallia Narbonensis or Hispania Citerior, 49-48. CAESAR Elephant walking right, trampling on horned serpent. Rev. Priestly implements: simpulum, aspergillum, securis with wolf's head at the top, and apex. Babelon (Julia) 9. Crawford 443/1. CRI 9. Sydenham 1006. Beautifully toned. Flip-over double strike, otherwise, very fine.

From the private collection of the Swiss Archaeologist Philipp Reto Huser (1962-2025), privately acquired from Swiss Numismatist Markus Weder on 12 November 2001 (with collector's ticket).
This coin is a so-called flip-over double strike, meaning that the flan was not removed between two strikes but flipped over and was restruck a second time
